This seminar was given at the Isralight Labor Day Retreat in 2006. Rabbi Aaron designed this as a Rosh Hashana preparation program, and though it is suited perfectly for the month of Elul, it contains amazing teachings valuable throughout the entire year.

 Peace 1 – Introduction (Retreat 2006)

Rabbi Aaron opens up the seminar with the questions: How do you deal with the feeling of helplessness? How do you know what you are responsible for? In truth, what is helplessness, and how do I rise above it?

Peace 2 – Overcoming Fear, part 1 (Retreat 2006)

Through a simple understanding of Tehillim (Psalm) 27, which is recited twice daily during the month of Elul, Rabbi Aaron shows us how King David made the secret of overcoming fear so easily accessible to us. This first class defines the Hebrew words for the various types of ‘fear’ and guides us in how to rectify our inaccurate conceptions of G-d.

Peace 3 – Overcoming Fear, part 2 (Retreat 2006)

This class continues Rabbi Aaron’s further explorations into Tehillim (Psalm) 27, which we say every day until the end of Sukkot. Here, we learn from King David how to sit in the house of G-d, how to thrive in life, how to listen to our hearts, fix ourselves, and fix the world in the process.

Peace 4 – Rosh Hashana (Retreat 2006)

In the last class in this seminar, through exploring the concepts of kindness, justice, and compassion, Rabbi Aaron presents Rosh Hashana as an experience of rejoicing in our trembling. He also looks at the shofar, punishment, and personal responsibility.
